I Want It More than I can Tell!

Well, it's about time that I got caught up with my bills and started putting something away to save. Not just for my vacation, but for other things too. For example, the Mister and i still share the same car (which does get a little problematic sometimes), and we really would like to find a nicer apartment (the one we're at now is pretty cheap but it's sort of like a place to stay while you're saving money- very temporary).

Anyway, in honor of my first $100 put away into my savings, I decided to post some sketches that I drew up recently (all of them Disney-related of course). Just because I haven't gotten any commission requests doesn't mean I can't draw other Disney things!

If you think you know who the sketches are all of, leave your guesses in the comments below!

Disney Portraits!

So I think that I've decided what I'm going to do this countdown- instead of having scheduled posts, I'm going to offer Disney portrait commissions!

Ever wanted to be drawn like your favorite Disney character? You're in luck! I'll draw anybody as their favorite character in the wonderful style of Disney movie their character is picked from! Any character from any Disney movie will do, animated or live action, from Snow White to Frozen!

If you or anyone you know is interested, please email me at:, and we can talk about pricing. I look forward to hearing from you!

Below are some examples of my work!!

With True Love's Kiss, the Spell Shall Break!

So I haven't dropped off the face of the earth! I've just been... Frozen for a little while...

See what I did there?

Okay, okay, joking aside- I think I almost completely forgot about this blog. Why? Well, because I had to put my Disney dreams on hold for a little bit while I did some... job hunting.

Yes, it does seem like I've gone through an awful lot of jobs since I first started this blog back in 2011 (wow, has it really been that long already?!). Thing is, not only was I 19 when I started, I was working in a lot of different part-time retail positions. Now, though, I've finally found myself a perfect full-time job! This is the first time that I've gotten myself a decent-paying job that comes along with benefits (not counting a horrible warehouse job I had to endure a few years ago). Point is, I'm working at a bank now, and my husband and I finally have a steady income.

A lot really has changed since I went on my hiatus from the last countdown (I believe I was counting down to when we were going to move to Florida), so I guess I had better explain the new situation!

First, I'm planning a Disney vacation again! Next March is our 5th wedding anniversary, so we decided that we'd like to spend it in the most magical (and our favorite) place on earth: Walt Disney World! I'm starting my trip planning and money-saving now, so we have just about a year to go before we're "home" again.

Another new little tidbit is the newest addition to our family... we adopted a kitten! Her name is Athena, and she's my little fuzzy shadow. My poor little girl was found abandoned in an apartment with her mother and brother and given to a pet shelter. We got her when she was only a few weeks old (she's 4 1/2 months now), and my has she grown!

Anyway, this vacation's going to be a bit longer, now that I know what to expect and I can save up money better. We're (finally) going to be visiting Universal together- I can't wait to go and see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I've been waiting to go since they first announced it, but last trip I didn't have enough money to go to both Universal and Disney. This time, though, I'm making a point of doing everything.

Now that all that is out of the way... I'm trying to decide what this trip's countdown should be! Any suggestions are more than welcome- perhaps another weekly movie countdown? Or maybe I'll go with Disney characters again. We'll see- as for right now, I'll be updating the blog with any news over the next few days, so keep an eye out!

Also, anyone excited for Frozen Fever? I'm going to see Cinderella this Thursday!

Character 34 - Snow White

"I'm awfully sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you. But you don't know what I've been through. And all because I was afraid. I'm so ashamed of the fuss I made."
- Snow White, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937)

So this one's a wee bit early this week, just because I had time to work on it yesterday and I really wanted to post it. I'm finally on the last day of class, waiting for my final exam to start and watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. There's a thought, actually... perhaps when I'm finished with my Disney countdown I'll start a Harry Potter one! Hmm.....

Next time, Jane Porter!

Almost there!

"People gonna come here from everywhere, 'cause I'm almost there!"
-The Princess and the Frog (2009)

I can't help but sing this song every time something happens to push me closer to Florida! Obviously it's been a while since I last uploaded anything, but don't fret! I believe I've found a way to continue with my Disney sketches even with my horribly busy schedule! First, let's break down why I've been feeling so positive lately:

#1 I've just gotten myself a new job!
I haven't really talked about any of my work history on here, mainly because I want to stay focused on the sketches this time around, but my last handful of months have been pretty rocky job-wise. I landed myself a graphic design job for a few months, which was great at first, but it just didn't pay the bills! I guess that's how it is for artists nowadays, especially when you first start out: we're taken advantage of because we're so desperate for work...
BUT this is supposed to be POSITIVE, because two weeks ago (and after about a hundred applications filled out to different places) I got myself a job at Bath and Body Works! Oh, how I love the wonderful feeling of human interaction again after being cooped up in an office for so long... So far I love working there- and with me working again and my husband working as well that means we're that much closer to saving up enough to move to Florida!

#2 This is the last week of school for this semester!
As much as I loved going back to school, this semester has been a huge hassle, what with me and the hubby both working so much. It's hard to write an essay when when you barely have any time off! So once I'm done my final essay (which I'm actually working on right now), and I hand in my final project for my Graphics class (a whole website design!), and I take my final Geo exam, I'll be all finished! That leaves me to concentrate on working, working, working!

#3 It's finally SPRING!
After the oh so long Winter and the seemingly never ending cold weather, the plants have finally arrived (along with allergies...) and Spring has sprung! Nothing like a bright and sunny day to lift your spirits, right? Well it's definitely done a whole bunch to help improve my mood, especially on a great day like today!

Because of all these wonderfully positive things, I've decided to continue with my Disney sketches again! I think to give myself a wee bit of a break, though, I'm going to go back to the weekly posts that I did with the last countdown. So now, every weekend (possibly Friday or Saturday), I'll be continuing with the Disney character sketches! I'm still keeping the same list, so this Saturday you can look forward to seeing my sketch for Snow White! About time, huh?

Also, going weekly helps the blog stay true to it's name. Bi-daily Disney Magic just doesn't seem to sound as nice...

TTFN! (Ta ta for now!)

Character 33 - The Bride

"Til... death do us part..."
- Constance Hatchaway, the Bride, The Haunted Mansion (Disneyland, 1969)

For this one, there were a lot of different brides to choose from. I ended up picking my favorite one- the 90's Disneyland bride before they replaced her with the newest bride, Constance. The Haunted Mansion is my favorite Disney ride, and the bride is my favorite ghost (alongside the Ghost Host, of course)!

Also, I am super proud of this one. Without a doubt, this is my best sketch yet!

Next time, Snow White!

Character 32 - The Mayor of Halloweentown

"The king of Halloween has been blown to smithereens! Skeleton Jack is now a pile of dust!"
- The Mayor, The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

My first claymation character! I'm really proud of this one, but not as proud as I am of the next one... :)

Next time, The Bride!
