Week 52 - Tinker Bell

Tinker Bell is a 2008 computer animated film based on the Disney Fairies franchise produced by DisneyToon Studios. It revolves around Tinker Bell, a fairy character created by J. M. Barrie in his play Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, and featured in the 1953 Disney animated film, Peter Pan and its 2002 sequel Return to Never Land. Unlike Disney's two Peter Pan films featuring the character, which were produced primarily using traditional animation, Tinker Bell was produced using digital 3D modeling. The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray by Walt Disney Home Video on September 18, 2008. The teaser trailer was released on October of 2006.

Who doesn't love Tink? I personally love the CG Tinker Bell movies- the characters are just too darn cute to ignore! In 2005 (my second-to-last trip to Disney), when I went to Florida on vacation, I bought the Disney Fairies book written by the author of Ella Enchanted. A few years later, when I found out they were making a movie, I was really excited! Now there's actually more than one, and a new one coming out later on this year (which looks awesome :D ). Another thing I love about Tinker Bell is the way that she actually became so popular. When Disney was first building Disneyland, his sponsors didn't want him to use popular characters in case the project failed. So Disney decided to use Tinker Bell and Jiminy Cricket, two characters who weren't doing anything after their original films (Pinocchio and Peter Pan). Ironic isn't it? Today Tink is one of Disney's most popular characters!
